Mesquite hosts several annual and one-off events. Some of the annual events include the Mesquite Hot Air Balloon Festival taking place every January; there’s also the Rockets over Red Mesa show on the Fourth of July; and in September, the CasaBlanca Rib Fest and Mesquite Super Run car show take place. Plus, there’s several golf tournaments year-round.

Mesquite has three casino resorts: CasaBlanca Hotel-Casino-Golf-Spa, Virgin River Hotel/Casino/Bingo, and Eureka Casino Resort. Originally called Mesquite Flats, pioneering families attempted to settle the area three different times between 1878 and 1894. The first two attempts were abandoned after pioneers were repeatedly flooded out by raging thunderstorms that caused the Virgin River to overflow. Permanently settled in 1894, it was renamed Mesquite in 1898. Visitors can find more information, photographs, artifacts and memorabilia at the  Virgin Valley Heritage Museum.

Mesquite is in Clark County, Nevada. It is next to the Arizona state line and 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
